The social care programme is being initiated during 2021 with strong partnership with the social care and social work sectors.
The programme has been scoped in consultation with sector stakeholders and set out across three pillars of delivery each seeking to fulfil the below outcomes:
- There is fast, reliable connection across and between Scotland’s social services, communities and homes.
- Adequate and suitable devices, training and support are available to the social services sector.
- Support needs are being met by services using digital as seamlessly as possible, and digital is always an explored service option.
- Digital future proofing is a national priority in terms of planning for sustainability and growth of social service infrastructure, equipment use, collaboration and co-production.
- Data is collected, stored securely, shared responsibly and used correctly always with the person receiving support in mind.
- Digital and technology make key contributions to improvement and innovation, both as part of the process and the solution.
- Digital and data are considered facilitators of equity and inclusion.
Digital Leadership and Skills
- Services are designed with the person receiving support involved, exploring technology and digital as key contributing factors to fulfilled lives.
- Staff and families support the individual in the design of new support options.
- A range of digital services exist offering individual choice.
- A range of digital services exist to optimise collaboration and partnership working.
- Services delivery organisations are supported to make decisions on which products and developments to acquire.
- People and those that support them are supported to use digital services with growing understanding of how and when these are relevant and helpful.
- New digital services are co-produced.
- Accessibility to services and support are digital first.
- Leadership ensures adoption of digital solutions at individual, local and national scale and negotiates these systems’ interconnectivity.
- Leadership supports the investment in sustaining digital solutions and building organisational capacity for digital.
- There is focus on building capacity and capability of digital skills across the workforce, to use technology and to educate others of its users.
- Equally there is focus on digital skills of citizens with a view to use, share and participate.
- Training and development opportunities are available to staff across the workforce, with chances to learn alongside those they support.
- New care roles with specific focus on the use and embedding of digital and technology to optimise independence, participation, and inclusion.
