In October, additional winter 2021-22 funding was announced by the Scottish Government. The funding is part of measures being put in place to support current system pressures. NHS Boards, Integration Authorities and Local Authorities are expected to work collaboratively to ensure a whole system response.
In particular, funding is available for the following purposes:
- Interim care provision
- Enhancing multi-disciplinary working, including strengthening Multi-Disciplinary Teams
- Expanding Care at Home capacity
Technology-enabled care and support has a contribution to make across these three areas, specifically:
- Supporting timely and safe discharge from hospital
- Preventing avoidable presentation at, and admission to hospital
- Supporting care assessment and review
- Supporting people to maintain or even reduce their current levels of need
- Ease pressure on unpaid carers
- Supporting reablement
- Supporting prevention and early intervention
This section of the website presents brief written descriptions, case studies and interviews with leaders and practitioners, describing TEC solutions and approaches currently in use, which support care, independent living and wellbeing.
We have focused on approaches that have been implemented successfully, and have scope to be implemented more widely or used more frequently across Scotland.
Further examples will be added over time.
If you have any examples of approaches that you would like to share then please contact us at nss.tec@nhs.scot
Many thanks to those who provided examples and agreed to be interviewed and filmed.
