University of Strathclyde Research - the experience of older people receiving telecare services during the COVID-19 pandemic

In 2021, a research project led by the University of Strathclyde's School of Social Work and Social Policy, explored how telecare services have been experienced by older people during the COVID-19 pandemic. People using telecare services in three areas of Scotland were asked about service changes they had experienced, their use of wider technology, and keeping connected during periods of lockdown.

One of the recommendations in the TEC Programme/Local Government Digital Office Telecare Service Continuity and COVID-19 guidance (20.03.20) was that Telecare Service Providers (TSPs) consider outbound calling to support vulnerable service users who are self-isolating and may be experiencing a reduction in contact with services, friends and family.

This report sets out information, compiled by the TEC Programme, on the approach TSPs have been taking to outbound calling during the COVID-19 outbreak.
