We know that not everyone in Scotland is aware of the Near Me service. But when asked, many people said they would like the option to have an appointment by video if that would be appropriate for their circumstances. To help raise the profile of your service, a local approach works well. There are many ways to do this and here are just a few.
When offering appointments
Whether this is on the phone or by letter the option of a Near Me appointment should be discussed where this is appropriate for the appointment/meeting. Service Users and family members should also feel empowered to ask. The importance of people having appointment types that are better for them or more convenient are recognised and embedded within Government policy.
When booking appointments by phone, consider providing team members with a simple script and answers to frequently asked questions.
Near Me's Consult Now component offers a simple and very quick way to escalate from a telephone call to a video one.
Leaflets and other information
Why not raise awareness in outpatient departments, GP Practices, Citizens Advice Bureaux, Housing Organisations, and other areas. This might prompt people to ask could they have an option to have a video appointment the next time they need to be seen.

Not everyone uses social media of course, for those who are this is a great way to promote both the service and to get feedback. Follow us on @NHSNearMe and @TECScotland and do tag us in to keeps up to date with local developments using the #NearMe. We have also found that short film clips from local staff have worked well.
